No list is complete without Lion’s Head. This classic spiral hike delivers 360° views that stop you in your tracks — ocean on one side, city bowl on the other, and Table Mountain standing guard to the south.
The trail winds gradually up the mountain, with a few short scrambles near the top. It’s short enough to fit into a morning but still gives you that heart-pumping, summit-conquering feeling.
Top tip: Go early for sunrise or late afternoon for golden light and cooler temperatures. Don’t forget a headlamp if you’re descending after dark, and bring your camera — the view is magic, especially on a full-moon night.
Distance from hotel: 16 min drive
Running parallel to the Atlantic Seaboard at the base of Table Mountain, the Pipe Track is a gentle, mostly flat trail that rewards you with sweeping ocean views and lush fynbos all the way.
It’s ideal for intermediate runners or walkers who want a scenic escape without committing to a big climb. You’ll trace the route of an old water pipeline, catching glimpses of Camps Bay below and Lion’s Head behind you.
Top tip: Start at the Kloof Nek car park and turn around whenever you like. This one’s about the journey, not the finish line.
Distance from hotel: 18 min drive
For those craving a challenge, Platteklip Gorge is Cape Town’s most famous direct ascent up Table Mountain. It’s steep and spectacular — a stone stairway that delivers jaw-dropping views at every switchback.
Locals and visitors alike flock here for sunrise missions and post-rain, crystal-clear vistas. It’s a great way to earn that cable car ride down — or for the truly bold, make it a round trip.
Top tip: Start early to avoid the midday heat, bring plenty of water, and pace yourself. This is a climb, not a jog.
Distance from hotel: 7 min drive
Tucked against the base of Table Mountain above Vredehoek, Deer Park is a local favourite for quick morning runs or late-afternoon strolls. A mix of jeep track and single-track weaves through indigenous vegetation, with constant views over the city bowl.
The moderate, varied gradient makes it accessible for most fitness levels, and the network of paths means you can tailor the distance to your mood. It’s the perfect “I’ve got an hour to kill” adventure spot.
Top tip: Keep an eye out for resident dassies (rock hyraxes) sunning themselves on boulders.
Distance from hotel: 8 min drive
Not technically a trail — but far too good to leave off. The Sea Point Promenade is Cape Town’s beloved stretch for runners, walkers, cyclists, and sunset strollers alike. It hugs the Atlantic coastline for several kilometres, offering endless ocean views, public art installations, and that unmistakable fresh sea air.
It’s paved, flat, and perfect for a gentle jog before breakfast at the hotel, or a romantic sunset walk before cocktails at Ghibli Bar.
Top tip: If you’re an early riser, catch the first light glinting off the water. You’ll share the path with local runners, surfers, and dogs living their best lives.
One of Pullman Cape Town’s greatest advantages is its location. The wild beauty of Table Mountain National Park is practically steps away. These trails offer the ultimate way to reset and reconnect with the city, whether you’re here for business or leisure — or a bit of both.
