Lion’s Head Hiking Trail

No list is complete without Lion’s Head. This classic spiral hike delivers 360° views that stop you in your tracks — ocean on one side, city bowl on the other, and Table Mountain standing guard to the south.

The trail winds gradually up the mountain, with a few short scrambles near the top. It’s short enough to fit into a morning but still gives you that heart-pumping, summit-conquering feeling.

Top tip: Go early for sunrise or late afternoon for golden light and cooler temperatures. Don’t forget a headlamp if you’re descending after dark, and bring your camera — the view is magic, especially on a full-moon night.
